Three Days With The Sidekick 3
I picked up the Sidekick 3 from the T-Mobile store this Friday. Thus far, I am fairly happy with it. The Danger OS on the Sidekick 3 is very easy to use and quite intuitive.
While there is no Google Talk integration, I was able to use my AIM account almost instantly. I will continue to use Google Talk while on my desktop/laptop, but if you would like to IM me on my phone, please sign up for an AIM account and I will send you my AIM username.
Email was a cinch to setup thanks to T-Mobile's Desktop Interface. I can now gather my Gmail and work related emails on my phone. The Sidekick also supports instantaneous push email with the phone's integrated Tmail account.
I was able to import all of my contacts from Apple's Address Book application using a third party tool. While this tool is also supposed to sync the calendar, it doesn't appear to work with subscribed calendars in iCal, nor does T-Mobile's Desktop Interface allow you to import or subscribe to iCal style calendars. A bummer to say the least. However, since my calendar is basically a kludge of Outlook, Google Calendar, and iCal, I believe some organization is in order.
Web browsing is pretty good, if a little slow. Sites designed for mobile phones work great, but things like MySpace really pose a problem. I'll put most of the blame on MySpace through as the site is a complete turd.
The Sidekick's camera is nothing to write home about. However, it is cool to be able to snap a picture, send it to my newly created mobile blog, and email it to my friends.
I haven't had a chance to test the Sidekick's music player as all of my music is on my desktop machine, which is out of commission since the house is being painted.
About the only real drawback to the phone is its limited reception. In my house, I rarely get above two bars. Outside is a lot better, but not nearly as good as my wife's phone. That being said, I have yet to actually lose service. I still need to try out the voice capabilities on the phone. I don't plan on making many calls, but I hope it is at least decent.

Looks like an interesting phone, I thought mine was high tech because it has a camera.
I'm surprised that today on your blog there's no mention of the new Iron Maiden album being released. I'll get my copy after work.
Up the Irons!!
Brad
